Intervista esclusiva alle McQueen!!!

1) First of all, we'd like to know how you began to play music together and when it happened?
Leah Duors - I've been singing in bands for a while now and I met Cat (de Casanove - guitars) on the London circuit about six years ago. My band at the time was breaking up - we decided to get together and have some fun writing songs and seeing what happened. McQueen happened!

2) How were your first live concerts in front of a public?
LD - Our first live shows were insane. I think we were all a little insane back then. I think we still are all still insane! Our live shows are always fun - you never know what is going to happen.

3) What was your reaction to your first album, Break the Silence? Were you totally satisfied with it?
LD - Yeah. It's a good representation of our roots and where we were coming from. We've grown a lot since then. But yeah, we're extremely proud of Break The Silence and everything we achieved with it.

4) Was your album released in Italy? We have never been able to find it in music shops!
LD - Not sure. You can probably get it online. I'm not sure if it was officially released or not. You can get it on iTunes for sure.

5) Is there a song, or a lyrics, that reflect your nature better than the others?
LD - I write all of the lyrics so they are all the contents of my sick and twisted mind, my observations, my frustrations, my madness. I think although the lyrics are written by myself - I think that a lot of people can relate to them.

6) In your opinion, what's the best women's band ever?
LD - McQueen. Ha, ha! Naturally!

7) Everyone is curious about this: who will be your next bass player??
LD - Constanze Hart is our bassist, she's from Australia and she's fucking killer!

9) Do you feel a Riot Grrrl Band?
LD - Not intentionally. We're just a band, who happen to be female, trying to be the best musicians we can be and the best band that we can be - regardless of gender. I keep saying it - but music is genderless. We're not making a statement by burning our bras... We're making our statement through our music.

9) Our forum is the only McQueen Italian Fans Forum (this is what we've known so far), so do we have any chance to become your Official McQueen Italian Forum? and how could we make this happen?
LD - Yes. This sounds great. Not sure how to make it happen - but we're working on our new website right now and can add you as a link maybe?

Leah Duors - Già cantavo in diverse band da un pò, e ho conosciuto Cat (de Casanove - chitarra) nel circuito di Londra circa sei anni fa. La mia band di allora si stava sciogliendo - così abbiamo deciso di unirci e divertirci un pò a scrivere canzoni per vedere cosa sarebbe successo. Sono successe le McQueen!

2) Com'erano i vostri primi concerti live di fronte ad un pubblico?
LD - I nostri primi show erano folli. Penso che a quel tempo fossime tutte un pò folli. Penso che siamo ancora tutte folli! I nostri live sono sempre divertenti - non sai mai quello che sta per accadere.

3) Qual'è stata la vostra reazione al vostro primo album, Break the Silence? Siete state totalmente soddisfatte?
LD - Sì. E' una buona rappresentazione delle nostre radici e di dove veniamo. Siamo cresciute un sacco da allora. Ma sì, siamo estremamente orgogliose di Break The Silence e di tutto quello che abbiamo ottenuto grazie ad esso.

4) Il vostro album è stato pubblicato in Italia? Non siamo mai riuscite a trovarlo nei negozi di musica!
LD - Non ne sono sicura. Probabilmente potete comprarlo online. Non penso che sia stato pubblicato ufficialmente. Ma sicuramente potete scaricarlo su iTunes.

5) C'è una canzone, o un testo, che riflette la vostra natura meglio degli altri?
LD - Scrivo io tutte le canzoni quindi rappresentano tutto il contenuto della mia mente malata e perversa, le mie osservazioni, le mie frustrazioni, la mia pazzia. Penso che nonostante i testi siano scritti da me - penso che un sacco di gente vi si possa identificare.

6) Secondo voi, qual'è la miglior band femminile di sempre?
LD - McQueen. Ha, ha! Naturalmente!

7) Tutti sono curiosi di questo: chi sarà la vostra prossima bassista??
LD - La nostra bassista è Constanze Hart, è australiana e spacca il culo!

9) Vi sentite una band Riot Grrrl?
LD - Non intenizonalmente. Siamo solo una band, per caso composta da donne, che tentano di essere le migliori musiciste che possono essere e la migliore band che possono essere - indipendentemente dal genere (sessuale, ndr [by Zoe]). Continuo a ripeterlo - ma la musica non ha genere sessuale. Non facciamo affermazioni bruciando i nostri reggiseni... facciamo affermazioni attraverso la nostra musica.

9) Il nostro forum è l'unico forum italiano per i fan delle McQueen (almeno questo è quello che sappiamo fin'ora), quindi abbiamo qualche possibilità di diventare il forum italiano ufficiale delle McQueen? Come possiamo fare?
LD - Sì. Sembra fantastico. Non so esattamente come si può fare... ma proprio adesso stiamo lavorando al nostro nuovo sito e forse possiamo farlo aggiungendovi come link?
